Of possible interest is a paper published recently in Zootaxa. It is on gynandromorphs of Austrosimulium in New Zealand. Apart from the peculiar nature of the specimens and some rather unusual images, there is an interesting story that involves these simuliids and Fiordland Crested Penguins.
The article is free access and can be obtained at <http://www.mapress.com/zootaxa/2008/f/zt01811p068.pdf>
