Dear Colleagues
I am currently undertaking the unenviable task of 'weeding' the main
storage room for our Legal Department and have a query regarding Fire
Service Records.
Historically Wigan has been the Greater Manchester Authority in which the
Force Solicitor for GM Fire Service was based. As such we have accumulated
a large volume of fire service records on a variety of issues in our Deeds
Room.
Earlier this year the Force Solicitor relocated to the Fire Service HQ but
we are still left with the files.
As such I am after some views, and experiences, regarding the next step for
these records.
It's my view that these are the property of the Fire Service and so should
be transferred to them rather than retained by us. Does anyone else have a
view on this or have they been through a similar process?
Any advice is greatly received.
