Re the Facebook foto: I'm the middle-aged dude with the black beard, bending
over the wickets. The 'little boy' is now a Development Officer Manager for
the South East Asia Zone for the International Cricket Council ... All those
hours of bowling to him and batting for him led to first class cricket in Oz
and a stint or six in a league in Durham, UK. The Darlington I speak of is
actually a hills suburb just outside Perth - a bit of an artist village. We
had a lovely old weatherboard house on an acre, tennis court in front and
swimming pool at rear. Ah, the heady days of my advertising career! I had to
drop income and prestige to become an academic - ha ha.
The big boy in the foto was never any good at sport but extremely good with
computers - now owns a company called BAM Creative, which you can look up at
http://www.bam.com.au/ He has a book contract and even an advance for an IT
text book.
I have a daughter too - but that's a different story: a fashion agent for
lots of lines.
