You are invited to apply for a new position as Teaching Fellow in
Journalism at the University of Stirling. Working within the
Department of Film, Media & Journalism, the main focus of the post is
to strengthen the Department's current undergraduate provision in
Journalism. You will lead teaching on the Introduction to Journalism
and Journalism and Society modules as well as assisting on Media
Environment module which forms part of the MSc in Media Management.
Introduction to Journalism explores the main concepts relating to
journalism and news gathering. Journalism and Society considers the
changing technological, social and political environment within which
journalists work and explores debates about the role and practice of
the profession.
Experience of teaching undergraduate journalism courses is essential.
You will be able to demonstrate well-developed organisational skills,
and the self-motivation requisite for assuming a central teaching role
in delivering these modules. Basic software skills are essential.
Experience of using WebCT or similar instructional packages would be
an advantage but is not essential. Experience of teaching media
history or related subject areas is desirable.
This is a four-month fixed term position which will commence on 1st
September 2008 or earlier if possible.
