Sorry, I still wanted to double check so I understand it correctly:
(1) When you say "untransformed IC maps" in melodic_oIC.nii.gz, you mean the "sources" from ICA
decomposition. Is that correct?
Also to clarify on the current bug in Melodic:
(2) Does "switching off" the variance normalization through the GUI really work?
i.e, even though a message is displayed about variance normalization in the log, is variance
normalization really being done?

Firstly, yes, the --Oorig does provide you with a second 4D output
file melodic_oIC which contains the non-transformed IC maps.
Wrt the second question this is a bug - if you run it from the
command line with the --sep_vn instead of the --vn option then all
should be fine; will correct in future versions.
