In case people interested in this area don't know...
There was, '"Peripatetic Practices': a workshop on walking' held in London
at Royal Holloway in March organised by Hannah Macpherson and Jennie
Middleton (ESRC supported)
It was a well attended event with approx 20 v interesting talks (inc a
number on walking in the city)
A PDF containing all the speakers/abstracts is available.
also
Deirdre Heddon's 'Autobiography and Performance' (2008) Palgrave, has quite
a lot of walking (as) performance in it.

Subject: theory on walking
hi,
please can geographers refer me to recent work on walking that goes beyond
de certeau? i have seen from the list that there are some interesting
initiatives going on, but am not familiar with the theory. i am trying to
think differently about walking narratives in 60s quebec fiction set in
montreal.
thanks,
