Just a thought but to the west of Shoreham along the coastal plain there is
Aldingbourne and between Chichester and Emsworth we have Fishbourne,
Nutbourne, Westbourne, Southbourne and in the middle Bosham. All I believe
individual parishes. Further to the west still along the coast is Cosham and
Fareham. All the 'hams' and most of the 'bournes' appear in Domesday, albeit
with earlier name formats.
Here in the higher ground of Northamptonshire I cannot offhand think of any
'bournes' although we do have the 'ham' element in Northampton itself.
Just food for thought.
