Closing Date: 14 July 2008
The Natural History Museum is one of the world’s leading museums,
internationally recognised for its dual role as a centre of excellence in
scientific research and as a leading exponent in the presentation of
natural history to the general public through exhibitions, public
programmes and the web.
The Museum Archives contain a wealth of information on the history of the
Museum, our collections, staff and collectors. To help facilitate public
access to the Archives, you will responsible for transferring existing
finding aids in a variety of media into the online CALM catalogue.
Checking the accuracy of the existing finding aids, including cross-
checking of data with original archival material, will be an important
part of this process.
The successful candidate will have previous experience of data entry in an
office environment, a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and
experience of or interest in working in an archives environment. Good
keyboard skills (accurate 40-60 words per minute), attention to detail and
a methodical approach are essential, as are communication and
organisational skills, and the ability to work without close supervision.
