The Bioinformatics Database Developer designs and implements scientific
databases and database-enabled applications as directed to support basic
research and other needs. The incumbent creates inter/intranet web
interfaces to list, edit, insert, or delete database records, and ensures
that these interfaces are responsive, attractive and easy to use. The
Bioinformatics Database Developer modifies existing web-based databases as
directed as well as sssists in the technical management of web
applications and web servers including software installation,
configuration, testing, and file management. The incumbent writes non-web-
based programs when needed, such as for updating databases or performing
maintenance. Additionally, this position acts as a resource for those
departments that do not have expertise in database development and assists
them in using this technology as appropriate.
