No, I don't approach the OTO as a religion. I approach my membership in the OTO as a student of Classics and Archaeology who is studying the uses of ancient Egyptian deities by late 19th / early 20th century British magicians, such as Crowley for one. Why Egyptian deities? (And I'm looking at the Golden Dawn members Mathers and Farr as well for that). I'm also re-visiting a 'religion' of my youth (yes, I did used to have a much more religious approach to Thelema), and I'm also happy to accrue any benefits of OTO initiation as well.
