Dear all,
For all of you wanting copies of the information of the Object Lessons
scheme, please check the SHCG website in about a month's time. The
written part of the resources will be available to download there.
However, they are intended for use in conjunction with the loans boxes,
so you only get half the picture if you do this! Further details will
follow on our website in due course.
Best wishes,
Zelda

Dear Zelda
I am very interested in the launch of the object lessons, however I will
not be able to attend. Would I be able to acquire copies of
information?
Thank you.

Dear all,
SHCG will be launching its 'Object Lessons' scheme on 24th June 2008,
12.30-2.30pm, at Newcastle University.
The launch will take place within a networking meeting for Museums North
Social History Panel, so that as many people as possible can get to find
out about the scheme.
Object Lessons is a new series of resources designed by SHCG with
funding from MLA to help you develop your skills and confidence in
identifying and caring for core materials found in social history
collections. Each resource is made up of a loans box of museum objects
with an accompanying written pack which guides you through the basic
principles of identifying and caring for metals, wood and plastics. The
afternoon will provide an opportunity to view the resources, and find
out how you and your museum can make best use of them.
The meeting will also be an opportunity to find out what has been going
on in social history in the north east in the last year, and to
contribute your thoughts on future activities for the regional Panel. A
free networking lunch will be provided to all those who pre-book.
To book a place please fill in the booking form attached and send it to
Lucy Thompson, ICCHS (email [log in to unmask])
Deadline for bookings: Friday 20th June.
Further details on Object Lessons will be mailed to SHCG members in due
course - or if you have queries about it, please contact me off-list.
Many thanks,
Zelda
