The University of Hertfordshire (UK) has a fully-funded PhD studentship available in the Faculty for the Creative and Cultural Industries. The studentship is part of a major project entitled "non-traditional knowledge and communication in research in the creative and performing arts". The topic on which the PhD student will concentrate is: "What are the issues and consequences involved in archiving, retrieval, and dissemination of research in the creative and performing arts?" For example: what forms of dissemination are used for the communication of research; what conditions must be met by non-traditional forms of dissemination in order that they meets the requirements of academic research; and how did the medium of communication affect the scope of research in selected case studies from the creative and performing arts?
The student will be supervised by Prof Michael Biggs, who is well known for his work on so-called practice-based research (http://sitem.herts.ac.uk/artdes_research/tvad/biggs1.html ). S/he will be joining an experienced team of co-researchers who will work together on "non-traditional knowledge and communication in research in the creative and performing arts" (http://sitem.herts.ac.uk/artdes_research/tvad/ntkc.html ).
