italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
ITALIAN LECTURER - The Catholic University of America - Washington, D.C.
The Department of Modern Languages & Literatures at The Catholic University of America (Washington, DC) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track lectureship position in Italian, beginning in Fall 2008, with possibility of annual renewal. Responsibilities include teaching 3 courses per semester, supervising introductory and/or intermediate language courses, serving as advisor to the Italian Club, and assisting the program director with events (symposia, lectures, etc.).
Applicants must have native or near-native fluency in Italian and English, hold an MA (or equivalent) in Italian, and have teaching experience in American academic institutions. The ideal candidate will have evidence of teaching excellence, expertise in foreign language pedagogy, strong interpersonal skills, collegiality, and ability to work in a team showing enthusiasm/interest in teaching communicative, learner-centered, Italian language and culture courses, and demonstrating experience with the use of technology in the classroom.
