These 5 questions are prompted by a document posted years ago
(highseas.doc) by Grant Hutchison to the old Boundary Point Yahoo Group:
1. Is there any current support for the position that there is a fragment
of high seas bounded by Tromelin, Agalega, and the Seychelles?
2. Is there any current support for the position that there is a fragment
of high seas bounded by Australia, Solomon Islands, and PNG?
3. Currently, is it more accepted that Okinotorishima generates a full
EEZ, thus creating a high seas fragment surrounded by Japan, or that
Okintorishima is a "rock" within a high seas fragment which extends from
Honshu to Palau?
4. Do Fiji and the Solomon Islands have a maritime boundary? If so, is it
specified by treaty? What is the distance in nautical miles from the
northern end to the southern end?
5. Is the shortest distance from the baselines of the Kermadecs to the
baselines of the Minerva Reefs less than 400 nautical miles? Is it
currently accepted that these features each generate EEZs? If so, has New
Zealand made any agreement with Tonga regarding a maritime boundary? Also,
is Fiji getting any support for its recent claim to the Minerva reefs?
