Job Description: This opportunity is to backfill for a secondment in the Projects Team until the end of December 2008.This post is responsible for carrying out project based work within the Datasets Development Team. Datasets Development is responsible for the management and development of the NMR's Heritage datasets, the national historic environment databases of buildings and sites in England and its territorial waters, comprising both textual and spatial data. The datasets include records for maritime sites, designated heritage assets as well as non-designated buildings and archaeology. The post will be responsible for working on internal team projects, including those for on-line resources, as well as on partnership projects with other parts of English Heritage and external organisations. Attention to detail and the ability to follow standards are essential traits for this post.

Job DescriptionThese positions are responsible for maintaining and developing the NMR's Heritage Data Sets, the national historic environment databases of buildings and sites in England and its territorial waters, comprising both textual and spatial data. The data sets include records for maritime sites, listed buildings, scheduled monuments and registered parks and gardens, as well as non-designated buildings and archaeology. The post is responsible for ensuring that the datasets are consistent, accurate and up-to-date to enable access to and dissemination of the Heritage Data Sets. Close liaison with teams in Heritage Protection and other parts of Planning and Development, as well as with teams in the NMR, will be essential.
