Mizzima News was established in 1998 by a group of Burmese journalists
in exile in order to promote awareness about human rights issues and the
state of democracy in Burma. There is substantial coverage of Burmese
politics and elections, the role of the Burmese military government and
human rights abuses committed against pro-democracy campaigners such as
Aung San Suu Kyi. Other features of the website include Mizzima.TV
podcasts and video films of news, current affairs, interviews and
discussion programmes, photograph galleries and discussion forums. Users
may sign up to receive email news updates. Technical and copyright
information is displayed on the website.

Electronic Current Contents of periodicals on the Middle East

A Table of Contents alerting service maintained by the staff of the
Moshe Dayan Center, Tel Aviv University. It is issued bimonthly and aims
to quickly provide scholars with the most up to date tables of contents
and lists of journal articles published in the key Middle Eastern
studies academic periodicals held in its librray. It also provides
coverage of Middle East-related articles appearing in other scholarly
and general interest publications. All areas of economic, social and
political policy relating to the Middle East and nations of the Middle
East are covered . All lists from 1998 onwards can be downloaded from
the website. There is substantial coverage of the Arab-Israeli conflict,
foreign policy and security in the Middle East. other nations covered
include: Israel, Turkey, Palestine, Iraq, Iran and the Caucasus. The
main emphasis seems to be upon English language and North American
titles.

Nineteenth-Century Serials Edition (ncse) provides free access to a
collection of 6 full text 19th century newspapers and journals. Monthly
Repository (1806-1837) and Unitarian Chronicle (1832-1833); Northern
Star (1838-1852) Leader (1850-1860) ; English Woman's Journal
(1858-1864) ;Tomahawk (1867-1870) ;Publishers' Circular (1880-1890) .
Digitisation was a collaboration between Birkbeck College, King's
College London (Centre for Computing in the Humanities and the
Department of English), the British Library, and Olive Software. It was
funded from January 2005 to December 2007 by the Arts and Humanities
Research Council.The titles were chosen for their emphasis upon social
issues, political reform and womens rights issues. In particular the
Northern Star is particularly associated with Chartism and political
reform movements. The database may be searched or browsed. The website
also offers information on the history of British newspaper publishing.

provides free online access to the official television recordings of
debates in the chamber and committee meetings covering all aspects of
legislation, Welsh politics and Welsh government policy. Schedules,
copyright and technical information can be found on the website.
Archived recordings and transcripts of debates are available from April
2008 onwards.

adult learners which uses materials based on the news archives of NBC
News. It was launched in 2008 and material is being continuously added.
It includes video clips, discussion forums, online games and other
learning materials focusing on a range of topics which will include
American politics and government; American history and English language
composition skills. Materials include coverage of the 2008 American
presidential election and earlier campaigns. Users must complete a free
registration form to access the site. Copyright and technical
information is displayed.

titles. These cover a range of sciences, social sciences and arts and
humanities titles. Topics from the social sciences include: education,
public health psychology and law. Details on coverage and content is
provided for each individual title. Note that some titles are offering a
semi open access policy, therefore some items may be limited to
subscribers only.

Intelligence Project: monitoring hate and extremist groups in the USA

The Intelligence Project: is a special initiative of the Southern
Poverty Law Center. It researches and tracks the activities of more than
800 hate groups across the USA. These include white supremists; Klu Klux
Klan; neo-Nazi and extreme right and left wing political organizations
and movements. The website provides free access to news headlines,
statistics and reports. These include recent issues of Hatewatch Weekly;
the Year in Hate; mappings of currently active hate groups; and articles
from its journal intelligence report. These contain materials on the
current extent and nature of anti-Semitism; racism; political extremism
and violence against gay, lesbian and transsexual persons in the USA.

2008. It is a project coordinated by TuTech Innovation GmbH which aims
to coordinate the work and knowledge of public bodies, governments,

e-government in Europe. Its website contains news updates, blogs and
links to projects involved in all aspects of electronic government. This
includes substantial coverage of web 2.0 intiatives in political
communication involving mobile technology, YouTube, Second life and
Facebook.

The Yearbook of Immigration Statistics is a compendium of tables that
provides data on immigration to the United States. It is compiled
annually by the Office of Immigration Statistics and includes

fiscal year. It also has information on immigration appeals, deportation
and illegal immigration. It is possible to download all data tables from

This site was created by educational broadcaster C-SPAN to commemorate
the 200th anniversary of the birth of American President Abraham
Lincoln. In addition to providing a listing of all events sponsored by
the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission, the site also offers free
access to a wealth of materials relating to the life, political career
and impact of Lincoln. They include a biography and timeline of key
events; photographs and prints, transcripts and audiofiles of key
speeches (including the Gettysburg Address; Cooper union speeches,
presidential inaugural addresses and the Douglas-Lincoln debates). Also
available are archives of video programmes from C-Span, book reviews and

Law. It provides real time tracking of Internet published diplomacy
documents worldwide. This includes materials from major international

site may be browsed or searched by region or topic. Topics include:
international trade, human rights, refugees, international security and
terrorism, decolonisation and drug control. Key conflicts covered
