Can YOU help me to help others?
DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF TO BE RECOVERED FROM BULIMIA NERVOSA?
I am looking for men and women who consider they have recovered from the eating disorder Bulimia Nervosa to take part in my PhD Research.
The purpose of my study is to look at recovery from the point of view of former sufferers of bulimia. By exploring personal experiences, insights and reflections on the recovery process, I hope to generate knowledge and understanding that will help current sufferers of bulimia.
Participation will involve an informal, face-to-face interview lasting for up to two hours where you will be asked to discuss all aspects of your recovery. Participation is voluntary and your identity will remain strictly anonymous. (If you would prefer not to meet in person, we could arrange a telephone interview or even chat via the Internet using the likes of MSN messenger or email correspondence).
Even if you did not have a medical diagnosis of bulimia, you may still consider yourself to have suffered from bulimia in the past and may now consider yourself to be recovered. If this describes you, I am still interested in talking to you!
Your recovery must have occurred no longer than FOUR years ago.
This research study has been ethically approved by The Research and Enterprise Office (REO) at the University of Essex.
If you would like more information or you are interested in participating in this study, please email me, Emma Weddell (PhD Candidate, Department of Sociology at the University of Essex) at [log in to unmask]
DUE TO THE HIDDEN NATURE OF MY RESEARCH POPULATION I AM FINDING IT DIFFICULT TO RECRUIT INTERVIEWEES, SO PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO FRIENDS, COLLEAGUES, STAFF & STUDENTS. THANK YOU!
