It is a pretty crap E-Book system anyway with a charging model most unfreindly to library purchase models. So it can have all the books from all the publishers it can get and explode them but it will not have a very big take up until it gets a decent charging model.
At present you buy so many uses of a book for a set fee. Even if somone just looks at the cover that is one of your uses gone. Once you have used up the uses then you have to buy more to retain access until the next year when you start again.
Dawson is excellent at book supplier and has the best information e-mail system to keep you up to date with new book releases by subject.
It is such a shame that they should have developed such a rubbish E-Bbooks system and chosen to try and promote it this way.
Now Phil and others have had their say pershap they might start to get the message and start listening to the what the Library world needs from a good E-Book service..

<Great - a controversy: must dive in!>
I would have thought that the offending email was at worst a breach of
etiquette (e.g. don't advertise commercial wares on a discussion list).
And the better way of handling it might have been to gently point out
(back channel) that such is the case.
I agree. I think Mr B was overacting. (Sorry, that should read:
over-reacting.)

I don't agree with Phil and I think he is over reacting. However being
a journalist I am probably more used to being bombarded
with press releases of all types and techniques.
