The ULRLS comprise the central libraries of the federal University of
London – the Senate House Library and the Institute libraries of the School
of Advanced Study. Senate House Library, where this post is based, is a
major research resource for the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
SPECIAL COLLECTIONS ADMINISTRATOR
£20,844 – £25,136 p.a. inc. LW
We are seeking a meticulous and committed individual with demonstrable
interest in at least one area of Special Collections (rare and early
printed books, palaeography, archives/manuscripts, preservation /
conservation) to manage the day-to-day services and operations of the
Special Collections section.
We need you to be able to make an immediate and effective contribution in
an academic research library environment, be confident in the supervision
of frontline staff and possess the excellent communication and
interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with people from a range
of backgrounds. A working knowledge of at least one European language is
essential as is a relevant degree (or equivalent by experience or ability).
Knowledge of basic Latin, historical bibliography and/or manuscript
studies, and computer applications for library and/or achive work are all
desirable in addition.
