Alison Dickens MIFA, Archaeological Manager at the Cambridge
Archaeological Unit, Department of Archaeology, University of Cambridge,
will give a talk on Wednesday, 4 June 2008 (wine and nibbles available from
5.30 pm with the talk at 6 pm) to Cambridge Library Group members.
Non-members may attend for a fee of £3.50. The talk will be held in the
Howard Building, Downing College
http://www.dow.cam.ac.uk/dow_server/visitors/index.html.
Alison's talk is entitled "Grand Arcade - Archaeology on the Grand Scale"
and is a follow-up to her very popular talk on 6/12/2005 entitled
'The archaeology of Robert Sayle's: from the rooftops down'. During her
talk
she will look at the process of planning for and carrying out a large
excavation, and will
also cover the results of the first phase of analysis of the excavation and
the building
recording - together with one or two surprises and some star finds.
