Dear All,
I am looking for examples of current thinking and practice in interactive
learning for families in art galleries.
Should there be a separate 'family/child-friendly' space, or should
interactives be integrated?
Where are both of these models being employed successfully, both in the UK
and beyond?
Where should we be moving in terms of art and interactivity?
I have found a couple of seminars/conferences with useful papers on the
topic (Getty Symposium - From Content to Play, 2005, and V&A - Interactive
Learning in Museums of Art, 2002), but was wondering if people could suggest
anything else.
I recently attended the MA conference on Interactivity, and from discussions
there, it seemed as though interactivity in art galleries was still
considered to be something that has to be done in its own space (as per
Clore Interactive Gallery in Manchester, Walker Art Gallery, Walsall etc),
despite the move in museums to have more of an integrated approach - what
are people's views about this?
What is the difference between an art gallery and a museum? Is there one?
Just a few big questions! Thank you very much in advance.
