Here is a link to the access arrangements for KS2
It says if the pupil is statemented or on Action Plus or has a visual
problem backed up by a doctors certificate-
the school can use a variety of things to give access - large print,
coloured overlays, etc are mentioned.
Would that help? (I know what you mean about the Reading Paper - they are
very colourful & quite busy. Guess they meant them to be attractive and
didn't realise that they're harder to read for some kids!)
Some things are harder to get for SATS - extra time for instance - but
other things like readers are actually easier to get for SATs than GCSE
because they are at the school's discretion. Well, if you have a helpful
school anyway !
