Subject: Hacker Space Fest (HSF2008): Vitry-sur-Seine (Paris) June
16-22, 2008
Hacker Space Fest (HSF2008) will take place from June 16 to June 22,
beginning with two days of conferences/lectures, followed by two days of
workshops, and end with two days of performances (see the programme fwd
herunder)
This is the first 'official' hackers event ever in France (afaik), where
the hackers scene has been systematically demonised by the authorities
and the media, while being absurdly manipulated and sabotaged by the
intelligence
(sic) services, keeping the scene underground and paranoid. No such
thing as a new social movement there till now. But fortunately
convergence of sorts with the more edgy art-culture circles has taken
place making such gatherings less of a suicidal challenge to the powers
that be.
Check out the programme and be welcome! Be warned however that the venue
is very much a rust belt techno-anarchist (legalised) squatt, the
facilities very basic (no overnite accomodation provided for visitors
btw) and the location, if not exactly the (concrete) desert, is very
much the kind of Paris tourist brochures will definitely ignore. In
short: HSF is not CCCamp! But the Seine is nearby, and the whole thing
promises to be fun, and interesting to boot.
As a customary aside in this sort of gigs visited by yours truly,
Turkish Tea will be served in the "Suckers Salon" at least during the
week-end (SuSa is probably named with Sarkozy's infamous "Fuck-off,
sucker!" (in
French: "casse-toi, pauvre con!") at the Agriculture Fair in mind ;-)
Cheers, see you there!
patrizio & Diiiinooos!
