With the accelerating move to e-services replacing paper based information sources the role of the academic library as an information resource for the local community is becoming compromised. Even when our licence for an e-resource allows access for walk-in users other rules, for example, correct use of JANET, may prevent us providing access.
Has anyone solved this, by this I mean has anyone set up a system that provides walk-in users access to those resources where the licence allows it?
I would be grateful for any information in this area, even partial success would be of interest.
