21/4/08 Dear Neil Crowther, EHRC, This Conference is not inclusive to all disabled people, especially those from poor lower socio-economic backgrounds who can't afford to attend these conferences/events. The University of Cambridge should have funding available to include 'disabled-voices' from poor socio-economic backgrounds and not make it an 'exclusive' club to those who can afford these sort of conferences/events. Can you please inform Commissioner's Jane Campbell and Bert Massie of this and also that they(University of Cambridge) have a legal duty to make this event fully accessible to all disabled people from all walks of life, if they really believe in 'real' inclusion. Disabled 'voices' should also be recognised and awarded for their 'expertise' and paid the appropriate rate of pay to attend these sort of events/conferences and meet all expenses for all PA's, tavel, accommodation and access needs that should be fully met under the DDA 2005/HRA 1998. Can you take th!
is matter up on my behalf with University of Cambridge at EHRC on my behalf and as I said inform Jane Campbell and Bert Massie of my concerns on this matter. Yours, Colin Revell

Hi Colin Sorry I'm not in the office until this afternoon. The event is not being organised by EHRC but by the University, with Jane as guest speaker. Therefore the Commission will not be offering to cover travel and subsistence costs of attendees on this occasion. I will make sure you receive a copy of the speech which will also be on the Commission's website shortly after the 30th. Neil
