Keith.
I share your views about war.
As far as I know, the socio biological model considers war and other
situations of human conflict as creators or generators of situations that
would impair people. The guys working on that model are in Illinois US. From
that point of view, disabled and non disabled people are equally vulnerable
to become victims. In otherwords, disable people are not more likely to
become victims . Andy

Subject: Re: Disabled Muslim Terrorists
Both Christian and Muslim Terrorists have murdered disabled with their
acts of terrorism.
Some time ago, Israeli uniformed Terrorists murdered the elderly
leader of Hamas who was both blind and a full time wheelchair user with
a deliberate rocket attack. I seem to remember that both his carer and
and a young child were also murdered in the incident.
Earlier this year two people with learning difficulties were suicide
bombers in Iraq. I do not know if they knowingly took this action or
not as many nondisabled Iraqis seem to have done. It is after all an
illegal occupation of their country. It is sad when anyone commits
suicide for any 'reason'.
It seems to me that so often people commit suicide when they perceive
that there is no other way out of the situation. It also seems to me
that the only long term solution is to enable people in this situation
to regain their dignity and self respect and then they will not want to
take this terrible course of action.
I do not know if any academic studies have been made on this subject,
however generally in war zones disabled people are more likely to
become victims of these terrible pointless events.
