Get a machine to scan for him e.g.myreader2 from humanware which can reconfigure text into a line or column and move it across your fixed field of vision.

Subject: Ushers Syndrome
Does anybody have any experience of assisting a student with Ushers
Syndrome? We have a student who is currently doing his 3rd year
dissertation and finding the volume of reading extremely difficult. Due to
his limited vision he reads word-by-word rather than being able to scan.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to help this student with the reading
for his project? He has been granted an extension, but obviously still has
to complete the reading.
Many thanks
Jane
