By default, in CheckReg or Display images are displayed interpolated. If
you switch off interpolation (i.e. use nearest-neighbour), both values
should be the same.
There is a 4x4 transformation matrix associated with each image volume
which describes the mapping from voxel to mm space (see e.g. spm_vol for
details). If your images are spatially normalised, this mm space will be
