Applications are invited for a PhD position in fMRI research starting July
1st 2008. The post-holder will work with Dr. Philipp Sterzer on a
DFG-funded research project entitled: “The role of emotion and motivation
in visual information processing: Neural mechansims and their change in
depressive disorder”.
The project will use fMRI in conjunction with behavioural techniques to
investigate the basic neural principles of how emotion and motivation
interact with visual perception. These processes will be studied in
healthy human subjects and in patients with depressive disorder with the
goal of developing refined pathophysiological models for the
symptomatology of mood disorders.
Applicants with a degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field
are preferred. Programming skills and a background in fMRI research or
behavioural vision sciences are advantageous. The successful candidate
should be enthusiastic and have a strong interest in the cognitive
neurosciences.
The work will be undertaken within the Department of Psychiatry, Charité
Campus Mitte, in Berlin. The Charité offers an excellent
multi-disciplinary and interactive research environment with access to
state-of-the-art research facilities (3T research MRI scanners). The
position is funded for a minimum of 3 years. Applications including CV and
the names of referees should be sent (email preferred) to
