What FWHM did you specify for smoothing the source and template images? This
FWHM determines how densely the data are sampled. If it is too dense, then
the algorithm will use too much memory.
Yet another thing on my "to do" list is an update of the spatial normalisation
code. It is pretty ancient now, and could really do with being brought into
the 21st century. If you are spatially normalising anatomical MRI, then I
would strongly suggest using the Segment button (or DARTEL, if you are an
expert user).
