The next meeting of the Records Management Society - Local Government Group
will take place on Friday July 18th at the Westminster Archives Centre.
I am currently putting together the agenda and I thought that the focus of
the day could be "managing paper records". I would like to cover any or all
of the following topics. If anyone would be prepared to share their
experience in a 10-15 minute presentation I would love to hear from you.
The topics are:
Setting up an in-house records management store from scratch
Experiences of using an external supplier, positive and negative
Assessing whether to develop an in house service or use an external
supplier (methodologies etc)
Clearing out records against an agreed retention schedule
Turning a paper environment into an "electronic" environment
If anyone else has any other ideas about something they could offer in this
field please do contact me off list.
If you would like to attend the meeting please also contact me off list on
[log in to unmask]
The last meeting took place on February 8th and all the papers can now be
found at http://www.rms-gb.org.uk/sigs/local-government/meetings/849.
I will look forward to hearing from people (and indeed meeting some of you
at conference).
