Applications are invited for two research studentships, each equivalent to
the value of an AHRC three-year doctoral award. The first is the
Skinner-Young Research Studentship and must be in the area of Shakespeare
and/or Renaissance Drama. The second can be in any of the areas in which the
Department has strong research interests which include: Romantic and
Victorian Studies, Modernism, Women’s Writing, Science and the Creative
Imagination (including Science Fiction), Classical Reception, Creative
Writing, European Cinema, Trans-national Cinema, Sexuality and Cinema,
Experimental Film and Video, Digital Media Culture, Technology and Society,
The Public Sphere, Conflict and Globalisation.
Applicants should have, or expect to gain, a good honours degree or MA in a
relevant field. If appointed, they will, in addition to completing a PhD, be
expected to teach or offer research assistance in the Department for up to
six hours per week.
