An Introduction to MIMAS Bibliographic Services

A course giving an introduction to a range of MIMAS Bibliographic 
Services will be taking place shortly in both London and Manchester. 
Attendance is free of charge but you do need to register in advance.

When and Where:
Manchester: Wednesday 30 April 2008, 10:00am-c.4.00pm.
             Held at the University of Manchester.
London: Wednesday 14 May 2008, 10:00am-c.4.00pm.
         Held at the South Camden City Learning Centre.

Course content
This is an overview course providing a basic introduction to a range of 
MIMAS bibliographic services.

- Archives Hub: Free access to descriptions of archives held in over 150
   UK universities and colleges.
     http://www.archiveshub.ac.uk
- Copac: Free access to the merged catalogues of major UK and Irish
   National, Academic and Special libraries.
     http://copac.ac.uk
- ISI Web of Knowledge Service for UK Education: a basic introduction to
   the Web of Knowledge (WoK) research platform that helps you find,
   analyse and manage information in the sciences, social sciences, arts
   and humanities.
     http://wok.mimas.ac.uk
- Zetoc: access to the British Library's Electronic Table of Contents
   (ETOC), a database of journal and conference article titles.
     http://zetoc.mimas.ac.uk

Who is the course for?
The course will be of interest to researchers, academics, librarians and 
support staff within the Further Education and Higher Education 
communities. Some experience of using a web browser will be useful for 
the practical exercises.
