CALL FOR PAPERS
QUEENS UNIVERSITY BELFAST CONFERENCE, DATES 2009
Members of the Association are invited to submit either a proposal for a
panel or an abstract for an individual paper for the Annual Conference to
be held at Queens University Belfast, 6-8 April, 2009.
CALL FOR PANELS
Proposals are invited from Association members for panels, consisting of
four papers, each of 25-30 minutes, on any area of research relating to
Spain, Portugal or Spanish and Portuguese-speaking worlds. Panels may be as
narrowly-focussed or wide-ranging as the organiser considers appropriate
(e.g., The works of Pérez Galdós, Latin-American History, Contemporary
Spanish Cinema, The Postcolonial Lusophone world). The panel convenor
should send abstracts (150-200 words) for the four papers to the Conference
Secretary (details above) by 5th September 2008. The participation of non-
members in panels should be agreed in consultation with the conference
organisers before invitations are offered. Some money may be available to
help cover costs of an invited speaker. If the proposal is accepted, the
panel convenor will organise a Chair for the session. The conference
organisers will liaise with the convenor and it will be the latter’s
responsibility to ensure that the members of the panel are kept informed of
all conference details.
CALL FOR INDIVIDUAL PAPERS
Proposals (150-200 words) are invited from Association members for
individual papers of 25-30 minutes on any area of research relating to
Spain, Portugal or Latin America. Proposals in the following areas should
be sent to the appropriate panel convenor by 5th September 2008:

Abstracts for papers in other areas should be sent to the Conference
Secretary (details above) by 5th September 2008. The conference organizers
will then attempt to group them into coherent panels.
Please note that the deadline for receipt of proposals for both panels and
individual papers is 5th September 2008.
