Cataloguer ‘Concert Programmes as a Window onto our Cultural Heritage’
£8,500 for 6 months full-time, fixed term contract (£17,000 pro rata)

The Britten–Pears Foundation, based in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, is a Designated
collection holding the archives of composer Benjamin Britten. In 2006 we
received a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund for an exciting project to
catalogue our extensive collection of concert programmes, develop a
performance database and initiate an outreach strategy.

We are now looking for a Cataloguer to complete the final six months of the
project. They will report to the archivist and will catalogue the
programmes of performances at the Aldeburgh Festival from its inception in
1948 up to the present day. There will also be the opportunity for them to
design a set of exhibition boards based on the collection.

This post would be suitable for either pre– or post– qualification
candidates who ideally have previous experience of archival cataloguing and
familiarity with DS CALM. The successful applicant will be motivated and
happy to work on their own initiative, have strong communication and time
management skills and be able to demonstrate an eye for detail. An interest
in twentieth-century music and performance would be an advantage.
