Is anyone out there aware of any good writing on sound in the war film, especially in the great anti-war films that came out at the beginning of the sound era (Milestone's All Quiet on the Western Front, Pabst's Westfront 1918 and Bernard's Les Croix de bois (The Wooden Crosses)?
