Hello all,

I am very interested in talking to some librarians who want to use
social networking and tagging tools to gather information from
colleagues. I am writing up a proof-of-concept idea (not a project yet)
about how to solicit information from colleagues about the content of
printed books that are written in languages we cannot read (either Roman
alphabet or non-Roman alphabets). The idea is to scan covers and TOCs
and put them up on a site for comments. Of course, copyright is a big
issue of course. If anybody has an interest in this topic, please
contact me.

  Thanks!

Dear all

Pru Mitchell and I will prepare something to follow on from the
presentation that Pru did in Singapore (and I provided remote input to,
as Liddy mentioned) about work that education.au is doing in researching
and using user tags, from the Australian education community.

Pru reported then on a proof of concept project looking at collecting
resources to enhance the edna collection (www.edna.edu.au ) via
del.icio.us bookmarks. This project has grown into a funded development
of a tool to collect user contributed resources and metadata, including
tags. We have also now implemented the Myedna project see www.me.edu.au
and it is planned that the tagging capacities of that will be enhanced,
and results fed into the edna resources collection.

We would be very interested to hear of any similar work that others are
doing and would be happy to talk about ours further with anyone
interested.

We will prepare something that can be presented as a standalone or by
another colleague who may be attending.

Regards

Sarah

Hello Taggers!

The program for the DC conference in Germany is shaping up and it is
time to decide what to do about tagging. We have had two very good
sessions at previous conferences and I would like to invite proposals
from you for the forthcoming conference. If you can send short notes of
what you would like to present, that would be a great help.

At the previous conferences, we have been able to accommodate short
presentations of interest from people who themselves have not been able
to attend the conference. Hopefully we can do this again this year.

I'd like proposals by the end of April, please.

Anyone who wishes can also use the tagging list to discuss proposals,
ideas, projects, etc - please take advantage of this opportunity.

Liddy
