24th-25th July 2008
Department of Epidemiology and Public Health,
University of Birmingham
Second Call for Abstracts
Submission Deadline - Friday 25th April 2008
The first Diagnostic Research Group Symposium, on the 24th and 25th July
2008 at the University of Birmingham, will provide an exciting forum for
the dissemination and presentation of recent research into medical
tests.
The two-day conference is organised jointly with the Centre for Evidence
Based Medicine, Oxford, http://www.cebm.net/ and presents an opportunity
to debate practice, methodological issues and current/recent research in
the field of medical tests.
The key objective of this symposium is to encourage research and
dialogue between researchers and health professionals who may be
actively involved in the evaluation of medical tests. Our 2008 event is
aimed at promoting the importance of such research into particular
themes of medical diagnostics:
1. Methodological Issues in studies of test accuracy
2. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses of diagnostic tests
3. Monitoring, prognosis and other purposes of tests
4. Evaluating impacts of tests on patients and resources
5. Applying evaluations in practice
We welcome submissions for these focussed themes, however we also
encourage you to submit on any area of research into the evaluation of
diagnostic tests.
Our submissions deadline at the end of April is fast approaching, so we
encourage and welcome you to submit your research for presentation at
our symposium this summer!
Both days will be in plenary format, with each session containing an
invited keynote speaker and submitted oral presentations. Plenary
sessions will be delivered by national and international world-renown
specialists, with confirmed keynote speakers currently including:

Szeged (Hungary)
