I would be interested in feedback from colleagues on the following:
With regard to the award of a PhD:
(i) Does your institution permit members of academic staff to submit for
examination work published outside the candidate's period of registration
for the award?
(ii) May such previously published work constitute the entirety or only a
part of the candidate's submission? If the latter, what is the nature of
the supplementary requirement?
(iii) Must such candidates at your institution be registered for a minimum
period of time? If so, how long is this period? Is it the same minimum
time period as is specified for 'student' PhD candidates?
Would be grateful for any and all feedback. Will collate, summarise and
circulate responses in anonymised format.
Many thanks,
Malcolm Dixon
