Lisbon to Madrid

Unsure of their place and tense as tendons
two lovers find their seats ahead of us
long weeks of intimacy crackling out
in nervous lust and startling jealousy.

Cool as plastic, we watch their moods
ripple into fumbling physicality
then look away as the train lurches
and night rolls past like storm clouds.
