Hi Clare,
The BHF have a good booklet which covers all aspects - Including
magnets. My father has one and has been advised to go through store
detection systems (at shop entrances) quickly. He has also been advised
not to go through airport detection systems and advise the reason why.
I would advise he gets further guidance on the specifics re this from
the hospital that fitted it as they will know the exact type and have a
data sheet.
We had a similar experience with a receptionist who said she couldn't
work with the switchboard and was re-deployed.
Good luck
Jackie

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] pacemakers
Hi All
Just a quick query, I have an applicant that has a pacemaker, however in
the factory there is alot of machinery such as metal detectors that have
quite strong magnets in them which could obviously change the setting of
the pacemaker. I can find evidence of being a distance of 6 inches away
for household magnets is safe anybody got any idea about industrial
magnets?
Cheers
Clare
