Information Professionals, both academic and commercial are invited to
attend a session to learn time-saving search techniques for finding
technology content using IEEE
Xplore, the online delivery platform for IEEE products. During this
live demonstration, presented by
IEEE Client Services Manager Ruth Wolfish, participants will learn :
-Advanced search features such as field searching, wildcards and
proximity searching
-Search by author affiliation or country
-Browsing for specific journals, conference papers or IEEE Standards
-Creating email and RSS alerts
-Understanding the Abstract Record
-Alternatives to Google and GoogleScholar such as CrossRef Google and
scitopia.org
-New features that are planned for 2008 and beyond
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Information professionals who oversee IEEE Xplore or who answer their
users’ questions on how to efficiently find IEEE content should
attend.This
is a meeting for librarians who are familiar with IEEE Xplore and who
would like to have input on future development.

INFORMATION ON THE PRESENTER
Ruth Wolfish, IEEE Client Services Manager, provides training for IEEE
online products, distributes informational
materials to drive usage, answers all usage questions, and performs both
on-site and internet conference training.
She works with all of IEEE's academic, government and corporate
accounts.
Ms. Wolfish came to IEEE in 2001 from Lucent Technologies. Her 18-year
career with Lucent and its predecessor companies included roles as Bell
Labs Reference Librarian, management trainer and administrator of
education, information specialist for business systems, and electronic
content coordinator for Lucent's Digital Library.
