I just wanted to send huge thanks to everyone who responded to my email
about archaeology courses. It has given me lots to think about and I am
greatly encouraged that there is so much out there that is suitable for
someone at my level.
I'm thoroughly looking forward to starting a course in the near future.

I've been a silent member of the mailing list for a few months now. Whilst I
find it all fascinating stuff, I am very much a novice so often feel out of
my depth. I have joined a local archaeology group, but I would like to do
some structured learning.
I wondered if anyone knows about a course that I can do, where I can learn
the grassroots of archaeology. I did a Classics A-level 14 years ago, so I
do have some knowledge of classical archaeology which I guess is a start!
I work full-time and I would be limited to courses in or around Cambridge,
which probably means it would have to be a home 'distance learning' course,
similar to the Open University but not at degree level.
I've been searching the internet and it appears there was due to be a GCSE
in Archaeology, but it was withdrawn by AQA. In any case, I would still need
to find somewhere that could offer it to someone in my position.
Well, I don't want waffle on too much! I thought I would try this list, as
you all seem hugely knowledgeable on just about everything to do with
archaeology! So, if anyone does have any ideas of where I can begin to look
for a basic/starter course in archaeology, or point me in the right
direction, I would be enormously grateful to hear your advice.
