I have to say it was very pleasing to find this news in my Inbox after I had returned home after a pleasant evening in Portsmouth.
The pub I was visiting closed early, as there were too few customers, so I left for the railway station. As I got to the Guildhall Square I realised that I still had half an hour to kill before catching my intended train back to Havant. So I popped into the large pub on the southern side of the Square, which is also the nearest to the railway station, for a swift pint.
Nice place, though rather cavernous, a Weatherspoons pub I gather. And its name?
The 'Isambard Kingdom Brunel'. How uncanny!

This is brilliant news, and as the news report says, real victory for
the local community that have been steadfast in trying to save the
building. Also SAVE should get the credit for a single minded
campaign to save this really important piece of our industrial
I am sure the implications will be felt further down the line, we can
all remember that we were there to save the Totnes pumping station!
