Hello Peter
I've been looking at this role for a few weeks.
The main difference I've found is that someone enrolled on a course as a
Guest can see files which have been uploaded from the Content Collection
when other Blackboard users cannot (assuming the Content Collection
files are restricted to people enrolled on the course).
We also expected someone enrolled as a Guest to be able to see content
when guest access is turned off but we've found this not to be the case.
Best wishes
Melanie

Subject: Guest Access Config Problems
Hi
I currently have a help enquiry in with Bb Support as I am having
problems with understanding Guest access on our system, it does not seem
to work as I would expect.
I am having difficulty with understanding whether there is any
difference between someone being enrolled on a course as Guest Role and
Guest access to courses.
As I understand it in order for someone who is enrolled on a course in
the Role of Guest to see content in a course then the Instructor needs
to enable Guest access to the course.
However if the instructor enables Guest access then anyone can access
the course as a Guest and have the same rights as the person who is
enrolled on the Guest Role.
Is there any difference between a Guest and someone who is enrolled in
the Guest Role? if not what is Guest Role for.
Or is there another setting on the system that needs to be changed to
differentiate between the two?
I would have expected someone enrolled on a module in the role of Guest
to be able to see content in a course even if guest access is turned
off.
The problem is that if Guest Access is turned on then anyone on the
system can access the course via the course catalogue. There seems to
be no way to just allow access to those enrolled in the Role of Guest.
Anyone have any ideas on this?
Thanks
