Hilary,
I have been "trialling" our Moodle-based VLE for electronic submissions
and marking for the past 18 months. The "trial" has and will continue to
evolve significantly, however the key points are that the current usage
takes advantage of existing Moodle functionality - most notably
Assignment boxes, Feedback boxes and Links.
The learners feel liberated from having to come into College JUST to had
in their work on deadline day. We get a higher percentage of submissions
in on time. The staff (myself and a few others who have evangelically
followed) are equally liberated from the piles of marking - not sure
about the RSI though!
The learners print credit last much longer and the number of trees we
waste has gone down appreciably.
There are some issues, identified by our ICT learners but they are being
actively addressed.
I am in the process of putting together a quick guide to how I use
electronic marking - I will send you a copy.
Paul
