A fully funded EPSRC DTA studentship is currently available in the group of
Claire Vallance in the Department of Chemistry at Oxford. The project
involves the development of broadband cavity ringdown spectroscopy using a
new supercontinuum light source (essentially a 'white light laser'). The
new technique will have applications in highly sensitive spectroscopic
measurements on gases, liquids, solutions and at interfaces, and in
biosensing and microfluidics.
The funding will provide fees and a living allowance at standard EPSRC
rates for British nationals, and fees only for EU students. Regretfully,
non-EU students are not eligible for funding under the DTA scheme.
Candidates for the position will need to follow the normal graduate
application procedures for the University of Oxford (see
http://www.admin.ox.ac.uk/postgraduate/apply/ for details).
Interested candidates should contact [log in to unmask] in the
first instance.
