A recent visitor to the library has described at as *a hidden gem,
hosting one of the most important and remarkable collections in the
country on the history of the radical, trade union and labour movement.
As well as books, it has banners, prints, photos, posters badges and
many other artefacts. the collection begins with Thomas Paine in the
1790s and goes right up to the present day, taking in the Chartists,
Socialism, suffragettes, the Spanish civil war and the miners* strike
of 1984/85.*
Due to limited meeting room space, places will be limited; please do
not turn up on the day without pre-booking (see below).
Refreshments will be provided.
The library, which is close to the Peel Park campus of Salford
University, is best reached from Salford Crescent rail station (3
minutes walk).
