Hello Sheila,
Sheffield Hallam University transferred from the Lancaster package to INNOPAC in 1999. Over time we have moved from a text based system to Millennium ILL.
The windows based functions are very easy to work with, and staff like the ability to edit request details simply. No need to retype a full line of text just to replace a minor error!
ILL is linked to the borrower records, so all the relevant patron data is at your fingertips. The receipting function lets you add your own barcodes so British Library loans can be issued in the same way as all other library material.
We have recently switched on the Add Address function, but I've been so busy with SED we've not had chance to look at the functionality of this yet.
The accounting function was switched on for us, which allows you to allocate faculty funds at the point of requesting, which is really useful for us. Previously we were recording this manually.
The statistics side of things lets the side down a little. While you can gain some statistical data from MillenniumILL, very specific data, such as type of material requests per patron type and number of requests per faculty still have to be kept manually. I only have a faint memory of Lancaster, but I think that was one of it's stronger assets?
We are happy with this system, and it does serve our needs. If there's a restriction within the system that won't allow us to do something, we can usually find a workaround.
Hope this helps,
Best wishes,
Francine.

Subject: Millennium ILL Module
Hi
Like many other libraries, we included Innovative's ILL Module in the original purchase of our system but have never actually implemented it, preferring to stay with the Lancaster system. However, as we do from time to time, we're reassessing whether the Millennium ILL product has caught up with Lancaster and would be interested to hear which libraries here in the UK are now using Millennium ILL and what the current state of it is?
Regards
