Hello All, Can I reiterate, and now feeling more confident now colleagues have confirmed my belief, Dewey is not the IE backbone. The JISC does not exclude Dewey at all, it is a widely used classification scheme and can be fit for purpose in many digital services, there are times when it is a sensible approach but it is not the default JISC position.
Thanks, Rachel

Quite - I believe that Dewey is owned and licensed by OCLC. When we
used it for a JISC project (OCLC were partners) the licensing was
really strict and we were not actually allowed to reveal the Dewey
class codes in the final collection.

I don't see how a proprietary classification system is acceptable in
this day and age.
